Over the past few months, accessibility has taken center stage as we continue to refine Atrius® Wayfinder to make each journey simpler, faster, and more inclusive. This quarter’s updates also introduce new personalization options to enhance the branding experience, providing more options to customize and feature your brand throughout from start to finish.
Product Updates that Make the Journey Smoother
Accessibility: More than Just a Requirement
We’ve made great A11y progress both on Web and JS-SDK:
- Smoother navigation and magnification, even at 400%
When travelers select a building or level they want to see on the map (Building and Level Selector), it is now easier to navigate with a keyboard and can be magnified smoothly, even at 400% browser magnification.

- Improved search results with updated punctuation handling
Point of Interest (POI) search is updated to normalize different forms of punctuation that may be inserted during a traveler’s search. This update provides cleaner, more accurate results without having to edit or modify their search. So whether it’s “New York Tony’s Subs” or “tonys subs”, travelers get clean, accurate results the first time.
- Accessible route toggle updated
Travelers can opt into an accessibility-friendly route with a single toggle. The toggle has been updated so it’s easier to see on the screen, takes up less space, and helps more people get directions that fit their needs.

Branding Touchpoints to Customize Your Map
Creating a seamless branded experience
When travelers see brand cues, they are confident they’re in an official, trustworthy experience. We’ve added two simple customizations to increase your brand presence while travelers navigate to their destination:
- Branded logo link
Customers can now add a clickable logo that opens a link in a new browser tab. You can maintain engagement while reinforcing brand identity without disrupting navigation for visitors.
- Logos on polygon POIs
Add recognizable marks (e.g., lounges or partner areas) right on the map so travelers can spot destinations at-a-glance. Our map-design team can add these; add a map-note to request an update!
Under the Hood Updates: Venue Management System (VMS) Improvements
- VMS performance boosts
We continued to improve the performance by optimizing a few parts of the backend services, delivering a measured ~50% performance improvement to load and save map data faster.
- Platform hardening & fixes
We upgraded several core services to Node 22 (performance, security, maintainability), ensured the VMS map refreshes immediately after POI edits/creation, and addressed edge cases that could create duplicate POI IDs.
- Smarter translations with less lift
We integrated an industry-leading, AI-powered translation provider so POI content reads more naturally across languages. POI data will now get the best translations the industry has to offer!
Continuing the Journey of Smarter Navigation
As we continue to refine Atrius Wayfinder, our goal remains to navigate spaces of all sizes effortlessly. These updates strengthen the foundations of accessibility, performance, and brand customization, so the experience is clearer for travelers and easier for teams to manage. We’ll continue investing in speed, reliability, and inclusive design while exploring what’s next in personalization and indoor positioning. If you’d like help enabling any of these changes or want to share feedback on what would move the needle for you, reach out to your account manager and keep an eye on the monthly changelog for what’s coming next.
